A man goes hiking alone in a faraway jungle. He steps off the well-marked trail and soon he’s lost in a dark maze of green and black. A group of barefoot hunters finds him and takes him back to their village as the sun starts to set. He looks around the clearing at small huts with reed walls and thatched roofs—groups of curious children daring each other to come closer to him—women with gourds marching across the packed red dirt—life going on just as it has for thousands of years as the hunters decide what to do with the strange man they found wandering alone in the forest.

The next day they take him hunting and force him to carry the two monkeys they kill along with several broken branches for firewood. He tries to escape but they stop him. He tries to tell them who he is and where he’s from but his words mean nothing to them.

Soon the reality of his new existence as a slave to a stone age tribe sets in and he’s forced to either cope the best he can or die—survive until he can finally regain his freedom and return to the modern world or allow his life to end in the hot, hungry jungle dirt.
